Inspirational Quotes & Testimonials

"Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter
of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is
a thing to be achieved."
- William Jennings Bryan 1860-1925; US attorney,
politician & orator, Scopes trial prosecution
witness
"Christy did an excellent job coaching me through
my career change. Two of the things she did
particularly well were listening to and remembering
my thoughts during our conversations. As we moved
into the decision phase of this process, Christy
reminded me of important career criteria I had
mentioned in earlier conversations, and helped me to
incorporate the criteria into my decisions. Without
her guidance and well timed reminders, I believe I
would have excluded some important criteria and
ended up with a career choice that was not exactly
the right fit for me."
- T.S., Engineer, Downer's Grove, IL
"My coaching sessions with Christy were very
valuable. She consistently demonstrated the ability
to listen effectively and always seemed to know when
it was the right time to dig a little deeper. I
often found myself surprised at what she was able to
raise to the surface - I tend to be a person who
naturally does a lot of self-reflection, and
therefore, thought that I had a lot of
self-awareness. With Christy, I discovered that
there was a whole lot more to be learned about
myself."
- Barbara Roache, Consultant & Trainer, Boston, MA

Free Goal Setting Teleclass - Celebrate
the Past, Embrace a New Future
|
| |
It's
not too late to set your instentions for the
year. I am offering Vision Quest subscribers
(and your friends) a free goal setting teleclass
to kick off 2004! If you would like some help
setting balanced goals that will propel your
life forward in 2004, join me on Wednesday,
January 28, from 12-1 pm Central.
The purpose of the session is to provide a
time for each of us to reflect on the past year
-- ups and downs -- and set our intentions for
the coming year including detailed goals in each
of 8 key areas of our life. A 20-year
longitudinal study showed that writing goals
down -- instead of just thinking about them or
talking about them -- multiples exponentially
the chances that they will be fulfilled. We all
intend to get more focused, but many of us don't
do it because we don't make an appointment with
ourselves to do so. This is that appointment!

Work It! by Allison Hemming, Simon &
Schuster, 2003.
|
| |
The
subtitle to this book says it best "How to Get
Ahead, Save Your Ass, and Land a Job in Any
Economy." While this is not the type of language
that I personally use, it hits home with many of
my clients who have been impacted by layoffs
either directly - or indirectly. Some have been
laid off themselves, others fear a lay off in
the near future, still others are survivors of a
lay off and question whether or not they want to
remain with their current employer.
This book is wonderfully easy to read as
Allison Hemming, a noted career expert, gives
readers practical pointers on how to keep their
jobs, or find new ones, and shares strategies on
how to get ahead in any economy. Her advice is
delivered in a no- nonsense, witty way. She
offers tools and techniques to help readers get
the most out of their job search. At the end of
each section there is a "Now Go Work It"
section, which helps the reader take action on
the suggestions provided.

Career Vision Dynamics in the news!
|
| |
I am thrilled to share with you the first
article, of hopefully many more to come, to be
written about Career Vision Dynamics. The
full-page feature article (complete with photo)
in the 'To Life' section of our local paper, The
Elburn Herald, followed my own career journey
and how it led to the formation of Career Vision
Dynamics this past year. It was entitled "A
'fulfilling' Life: Sugar Grove career builder
builds new life to help others".
The photo caption read "Christy Seawall found
happiness when she changed her life after she
lost her job at Marconi. She soon became a
career coach and established her company Career
Vision Dynamics. Seawall now helps others change
their lives."
